I believe in the truth that you get what you pay for. My work requires much time and energy, and therefore, I use only the finest materials available. I do not cut corners. All of the watch cases used in my work are hand selected and restored by me. All of the cases are antiques, usually dating from 1880 to 1940. If watch-bands are used, they must be original to the watch, and in good working order. The watch crystals are preferably original or vintage stock. I hand enamel the inside of all of the watch cases in a variety of colors and patterns, and, in some cases, enamel the outside of the case.
I use sterling silver or 14kt gold-filled for all of my fittings and chain. If the piece is beaded, then sterling silver Bali beads and spacers, genuine pearls and gemstones, and Swarovski brand crystals are used. The art glass beads used are lamp work or borosilicate glass beads, crafted, one at a time, by master's level glass artists from around the country. They are, in my opinion, the finest art glass beads made, and change color in different types of light. They are at their most beautiful in sunlight.
My micro mosaics are mixed media, made from tiny sea-shells, seeds, crystals, gold filigree, enamel-work, sea-grass and moss, vintage paper and fabric, and vintage holy cards or political postcards. The seashells I use are gathered by me at the beach, or imported. Tinted mustard and sesame seeds and dyed by me. I never use a pattern, and each is one of a kind.
Many of the wearable mixed media pieces that I make come with framed or box style shrines to be displayed as fine art pieces in the home, when not being worn. Some shrine pieces are not designed for wear.
